Lancaster's Only Curl-Specialist Salon Outgrows Its Original Space

When Simone Grant opened Curl Culture in Lancaster four years ago, she built the salon's entire service menu around curly and textured hair, a specialty she says was nearly impossible to find locally at the time.
"Clients were driving forty-five minutes to Philadelphia just for a proper curl cut," Grant said. "That commute told me everything about the size of the gap."
The salon has since outgrown its original two-chair space and is relocating to a larger storefront downtown with room for five stylists, all trained specifically in cutting and styling techniques for curl patterns that straight-hair-focused training often overlooks.
Grant has also begun offering shorter training workshops for stylists from other salons who want to add curly-hair services without fully specializing. She says demand for the workshops has surprised her, with several attendees traveling from York and Reading.
The expanded location is expected to open within the next two months, pending final buildout of plumbing needed for additional shampoo stations.
